Women's swimming picks up first win against CNR

Throggs Neck, NY – The Privateer women’s swim team hosted a tri-meet last night with the Blue Angels of the College of New Rochelle and the Golden Eagles of Saint Joseph’s-Patchogue. The Privateers picked up their first win of the year over New Rochelle by a score of 68-36, and dropped the decision to Saint Joseph’s 73-43, the Golden Eagles also defeated New Rochelle 71-36.
 
Team captain, sophomore Katie Marley (Peru, NY/Peru Central) (Peru, NY/Peru Central) had a solid performance finishing second in the 100 fly (1:20.13) and 100 yard IM (1:22.01). Marley also served as the anchor for the 200 yard Free Relay in which the Privateers also had a second place finish, freshmen Brittany McVea (Camillus, NY/West Genesse) (Camillus, NY/West Genese) and Kelly Fitzpatrick (Annapolis, MD/Mount de Sales) (Annapolis, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) and junior Cheryl Driscoll (Los Alamos, NM/Los Alamos) (Los Alamos, NM/Los Alamos). Driscoll had a good overall performance as she finished first in the 50 breast (39.00) two seconds ahead of the competition. She added to that two other second place finishes in the 500 yard free and the 200 yard free.
 
Next up for the men’s and women’s team will be the at the Skyline Conference Tournament this Saturday the 20th. The tournament is being held at USMMA-Kings Point and is slated to begin at 11:00 am.
